Noces d’Or Sublime

Client: Hardy Cognac

Project: Noces d’Or Sublime

Material: Body made of MDF

Special features: Unusual frame with delicate finishes creates a very special product presentation

The House of Hardy owes its name to the British Anthony Hardy, who left London as often as he could to travel to the Charente. He is also described as „the Englishman who loved France“. In 1863, he finally founded „Maison Hardy“ in the region he admired most.

The Noces d’Or Sublime is something special. The award-winning cognac is made up of 40 different Grande Champagne Cognacs aged for at least 30 years. This very noble cognac was released to celebrate the Year of the Rooster. The design of the eye-catching decanter is characterised when the box is opened for full display. This ensures the the opalescence of the rooster is highlighted on all areas. Such as the pressed glass, the hand-cut glass and of course on the polished label.

An MDF body was used as the basis for this project, which was finished with various coating papers. On the outside, brown, slightly glittering paper was used. The inner frame gets its special radiance from iridescent mother-of-pearl paper as well as a golden inner lining.

The challenge of this project consisted primarily in the requirements for straightness as well as the strength of the frame, so that a perfect hold and perfect security for the carafe was assured.

While the perfect rectilinear design was solved by assembling four injection-moulded plastic parts, the safety of the bottle was solved by EVA foam hidden in the upper and lower cavities.

This project once again stood out – as usual with Hardy – due to the perfect coordination of all parties involved. The smooth, effective and very open minded  communication among all team members represented a major success factor here.
